    Music

    Saturday, June 24th

8:00 – 10:00 pm - Conrad Herwig’s Quintet - Jazz performance @ the Main Stage (parking lot opposite Lollipop Land) - Metuchen Rocks Concert Series

Rutgers University-New Brunswick’s finest internationally known jazz musicians are represented in this quintet: Conrad Herwig performs on trombone; Abraham Burton on tenor saxophone; Marc Stasio on piano; Kenny Davis, bass and Robby Ameen, drums. Expect to hear jazz standards and some tunes bending to the Latin Side of Jazz.

8:00 pm doors open - “End of Junebug” Concert @ Old Franklin Schoolhouse (491 Middlesex Avenue)

  • 8:30 pm - Coach N' Commando: This duo of Matt Witte-Guitar and John Swayne-Drums bring their raw Juke Joint meets Roadhouse (with a little Punk thrown in) sound to the Old Franklin Schoolhouse for the second time. Veterans of the New Brunswick music scene, the band has released 3 cds to date, and has toured the US many times.
  • 10:00 pm - Lowlight: This 5-piece band plays mostly in the Asbury Park and New Brunswick scenes and released its first cd, “Where Do We Go From Here” last year. The band, who is considered by some to be Alt-Country, (although they feel at home doing the odd David Bowie, Bob Dylan or Stevie Nicks cover amongst the mostly originals), are a bit difficult to categorize due to the addition of synthesizer/electonic keyboard. Recently they have opened for the Pretenders twice, at the request of Chrissie Hynde. With two of the members hailing from Metuchen, they consider the Schoolhouse to be a second home for the band.
  • This event is free admission; rain or shine.

If you are brave and don't mind a little clay, you may even get to try it yourself!
    • Kathryn teaches ceramics at the duCret school of art in Plainfield and helps to manage the ceramics studio at The Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster. In 2014, she opened Jerabek Pottery, a production business. http://www.jerabekpottery.com. Kathryn graduated with a degree in Ceramic Art from Syracuse University and has been a member of the local community for more than 20 years.
